10.6.1 : Non-discriminatory admissions policy

Policy on Diversity and Inclusion

UTM has an explicit Non-discriminatory admissions policy anchored in its Policy on Diversity and Inclusion (2019), which guarantees equitable access to education for all applicants.

The policy clearly states that one of its key purposes is to ensure that the university provides "equal opportunities" to all citizens for "access to employment and Education". This is enforced by the commitment to an inclusive environment that is "free from discrimination".

The university’s policy details the characteristics against which discrimination is prohibited in the admissions process, ensuring that the selection of students is fair and impartial:

  • The policy defines Diversity expansively to encompass criteria such as gender, age, race, religion, nationality, and disability (kelainan upaya).
  • It specifically mandates that the undergraduate student intake is based on the principle of meritocracy.
  • The overall goal of the policy is to ensure that all individuals have the right to be "treated well, respected and be involved in all aspects of campus life fairly".

This comprehensive policy confirms that UTM's admissions practices are non-discriminatory, ensuring that access to its educational programs is based purely on merit and without prejudice
