Pleco Hunter: UTM antara institusi main peranan tangani ancaman ikan bandaraya di Sungai Skudai
UTM conducts high-impact sustainable fisheries community outreach (jangkauan komuniti perikanan lestari) through its involvement in the Pleco Hunter Program (Program Memburu Ikan Bandaraya). Collaborating with the Iskandar Puteri City Council and local community groups, UTM's lecturers and students lead a focused initiative to manage the invasive pleco fish (ikan bandaraya) in Sungai Skudai, which poses a significant threat to the local river ecosystem. This program includes awareness campaigns (kempen kesedaran) to educate the community on ecosystem preservation and utilizes the captured fish for applied research (kajian penyelidikan) in the UTM Living Lab to convert the invasive species into amino acid fertilizer (baja Asid Amino), providing a sustainable solution to an environmental threat.
