UTM strengthens Strategic Partnership with GDS International to drive Malaysia as a Global Data Center and Supply Chain Hub ahead

UTM significantly contributes to the Policy- and lawmakers outreach and education required for Malaysia's digital transition by co-hosting the GDS International (GDSI) Data Center Supply Chain Ecosystem Summit, which directly engaged top-tier government officials. The Summit served as a high-impact capacity-building and outreach platform, attracting over 400 industry executives and global suppliers. UTM, through this strategic partnership, provided a neutral, academic forum where lawmakers, including the Menteri Besar of Johor and the Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, were briefed on critical, complex topics. This direct engagement ensured policymakers received general education and upskilling on the cutting-edge technology, investment dynamics, and supply chain needs required to drive Malaysia as a global data center and advanced manufacturing hub. Furthermore, UTM’s commitment, formalized through a Letter of Intent, directly supports the national agenda by aligning academic programs with industry requirements, guaranteeing that future policy decisions are informed by the latest industry-ready talent and expertise in the digital economy.
