IBD Conducts Breastfeeding Day with Industrial Partners in conjunction with World Breastfeeding Week
Demonstrating a commitment that extends beyond general medical care, UTM leverages its academic institutes and partnerships to deliver targeted, high-quality health education that is directly accessible to its campus community, including student-parents.
A concrete example is the IBD Breastfeeding Day, organized by the Institute of Bioproduct Development (IBD) in August 2024. While framed to support the wider community, the event utilized university platforms and speakers (including one from the Faculty of Social Science and Humanities, UTM) to deliver information on critical maternal and postnatal health topics that directly impact students who are managing families and academic life. Key talks covered ‘Breastfeeding for Career Women’, ‘Mother and Mental Health Awareness’, and comprehensive ‘Maternal Wellbeing: Mental Health Support for Mothers and Families’.
This programming provides essential educational support, ensuring that students have access to expert-led information, resources, and mental health support related to reproductive outcomes and family planning. This integrated approach ensures that the university is a provider of comprehensive reproductive health education and information for all students who may require it.
