Micron Global Female Mentorship Program for Undergraduates and Graduates
Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) provides a formalized and specialized Women's Mentoring Scheme designed to directly address gender underrepresentation in critical Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields, ensuring female students receive essential support and career access.
- Structured Mentoring Scheme: The Micron Global Female Mentorship Program for Undergraduates and Graduates is a structured, eight-week scheme implemented through the Faculty of Electrical Engineering. This program focuses exclusively on female students pursuing undergraduate or graduate degrees in underrepresented subjects like Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Data Science, and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
- High-Value Mentorship Provision: Participants are directly mentored by Micron global female leaders. This scheme provides a high-impact provision, connecting students with established, high-ranking industry role models. The mentorship aims to help participants "learn about the professional world, acquire new skills, find their voice, and get help in launching successful careers".
- Integrated Career Pathway: Beyond guidance, the program serves as a critical career access scheme by offering students the opportunity to "be hired by Micron at the end of this 8-week program". This direct link between mentorship and employment provides a tangible measure of success and strongly incentivizes participation among female students in these high-demand technical disciplines.
This collaborative program confirms UTM's commitment to implementing specialized women’s mentoring schemes that are targeted at underrepresented subjects and are strategically partnered with industry to ensure maximum career impact for its female students.
