6.5.4 : Cooperation on water security

Symposium on Challenges and Opportunities in Water Security

The Symposium on Challenges and Opportunities in Water Security, co-organized by UTM's Centre for Environmental Sustainability and Water Security (IPASA), exemplifies the university’s high-level cooperation with national and regional governments on water security. The event, held in July 2024, was officially opened by the Director General of the Department of Irrigation and Drainage Malaysia (JPS). Furthermore, it featured presentations from key federal agencies, including the JPS, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Higher Education, and the Director General of the National Water Research Institute (NAHRIM). This platform was crucial for sharing research findings from the Global Challenge Research Fund (GCRF) Water Security Hub with these government agencies, stakeholders, and policymakers, charting a clear path for addressing water security issues at both the regional and national levels.
