4.3.5 : Lifelong learning access policy
POLISI DIVERSITI DAN INKLUSIF
UTM has an approved Diversity and Inclusive Policy (2019) that serves as a direct, official commitment to ensuring lifelong learning access is accessible to all, regardless of ethnicity, religion, disability, immigration status, or gender. The core purpose of this policy is to "celebrate diversity and practice togetherness and equality" (meraikan diversiti dan mempraktikkan kebersamaan serta kesamarataan) in all university affairs.
Crucially, the policy explicitly covers all members of the University community including students, staff, and all individuals participating in university business or activities (which includes educational and outreach programs). It defines Diversity expansively to encompass criteria like: gender, age, race, religion, nationality, disability (kelainan upaya), and family status (such as being the first in a family to attend university).
The policy commits the university to:
- Providing equal opportunities to all citizens for access to employment and Education.
- Ensuring there is no discrimination, bullying, harassment, and violence on campus.
- Promoting equity in education, research, and employment without regard to gender or race.
- Constantly supporting the needs of students and staff with specific needs (OKU) from diverse backgrounds.
Furthermore, UTM ensures that its undergraduate student intake is based on the principle of meritocracy without discrimination. The policy underscores that all citizens have the right to be treated well, respected, and involved in all aspects of campus life fairly.
