Support Schemes for Disabilities

Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) offers targeted support services for people with disabilities through skills development, communication support, and tailored academic assistance. Besides that, UTM organised a basic sign language skills training workshop to help staff communicate more effectively with students with hearing and speech disabilities, and a communication and leadership workshop for students with disabilities to strengthen confidence, interaction, and leadership capacity. These initiatives demonstrate structured, disability-specific support beyond general student services.

Targeted academic support and inclusive accommodations help students with disabilities participate fully and succeed in their studies at UTM.

UTM strengthens communication support for students with disabilities by providing basic sign language training for staff and the university community.

UTM provides targeted support for students with disabilities through communication and leadership programmes that build confidence, participation, and peer engagement.

UTM provides targeted academic support for students with disabilities through formal examination accommodations, including the provision of a writer, 15% additional examination time, and a specially designed desk adjusted to the student’s needs.
