On-Campus Accommodation for People with Disabilities
Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) provides practical support for people with disabilities through accessible accommodation and campus accessibility initiatives. The Residential College Unit provides dedicated accommodation for students with disabilities at Ninth & Tenth Residential Colleges, Rahman Putra Residential College and Tun Dr Ismail Residential College, with facilities including special wheelchair routes and single rooms with attached bathrooms. Room rates for these accommodations are publicly listed, indicating an operational provision for disability-inclusive housing.
UTM campus-level initiatives for people with disabilities, includes accessible toilets, Disabled People (OKU) routes, and barrier-free pathways facilities at the faculties, University Health Centre, Sport Excellence Centre and Psychological and Counselling Services Centre. For the student group, this initiative sits under Strategic Objective 4: High Performance Delivery Towards Community, with a defined operational target focused on increasing the number of UTM students with disability involved in sports programmes at university level and above.The strategy includes specific implementation measures and assigned responsibility. These include identifying students with disabilities, identifying buddies, providing training for buddies, engaging with NGOs and government bodies, preparing documented guidelines for managing disabled students, and supporting tournament participation.
UTM provides dedicated residential accommodation for students with disabilities, including accessible rooms and wheelchair-friendly routes.
“Kampung Inklusif” at UTM provides on-campus accommodation for persons with disabilities.
The “Kampung Inklusif” facility includes ramp access and barrier-reduced entryways, demonstrating UTM’s support for accessible on-campus living for persons with disabilities.
UTM provides accessible toilets, OKU routes, and barrier-free pathways across key campus facilities.
