Institution’s Sustainable Investment Policy

Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) is committed to ensure sustainable investment implementation through its Financial Sustainability Policy (Polisi Kelestarian Kewangan), a formally approved institutional framework by the University Board of Directors and effective from 5 January 2021, governing funding and investment-related activities.

Universiti Teknologi Malaysia’s Financial Sustainability Policy, outlining institutional commitments to responsible financial management aligned with long-term sustainability goals.

The policy emphasises responsible investment practices by requiring that all funding and investment activities consider risk, cost-effectiveness, and optimal returns while aligning with regulatory and ethical standards. Importantly, UTM ensures that all financial activities avoid non-compliant or unethical practices, reinforcing integrity and accountability in investment decisions.

In addition, the policy promotes diversification of income sources and strategic evaluation of external business proposals, ensuring that investments contribute to sustainable institutional growth. Financial resources are allocated to support core functions including education, research, and innovation, while safeguarding stakeholder interests and institutional assets. Through this governance-driven approach, UTM integrates sustainability considerations into its financial decision-making processes, reinforcing long-term resilience and value creation to the institution.
