Agihan Zakat 2024

In 2024, Zakat UTMJB successfully distributed a total of RM 1,898,623.55 to UTM community members among students and staff. This distribution was supported by the commitment and trust of the UTM community in ensuring that these contributions achieve their primary goal of identifying eligible and underprivileged recipients.

As an initial overview, UTM has been entrusted with identifying and distributing to 5 types of asnaf: Fakir, Miskin, Gharim, Fisabilillah, and Amil.

For the year 2024, the Fakir and Miskin categories benefited students in need of Zakat Living Expenses and Industrial Training Assistance, where 2,062 students received aid totaling RM 967,210.00. Payments to students were made directly through bank account transactions.

In addition, undergraduate students in need of settling their Tuition Fees were assisted with varying amounts not exceeding RM 1,000 per student. Master's and Doctoral students were provided with similar assistance; however, their applications were only considered after receiving the Thesis Submission Notice from the School of Graduate Studies or Faculty. The number of recipients in the Gharim category was 546, with a total payment of RM 222,575.00.

Furthermore, student associations and units under the Islamic Centre organized dakwah and spiritual programs that benefited thousands of UTM community members through Islamic programs while fostering noble values and knowledge development in the field of dakwah. For such dakwah-oriented programs, the Fisabilillah category was utilized, and in 2024, RM 599,980.42 was allocated to 104 programs.

Through the Fisabilillah category as well, benefits were provided to staff via the Schooling Assistance Program and Hari Raya Assistance, benefiting 200 staff members with a total aid of RM 55,000.00. For the first time, Zakat UTM, in collaboration with the Student Representative Council, organized the Jom Balik Raya program at the end of Ramadan to transport 500 students to various destinations for Eid celebrations using UTM buses. This program cost RM 41,000.00, yet the satisfaction and benefits received by the students provided a positive impact on its organization.

Zakat UTMJB hopes that the beneficiaries of zakat will always remain under the Mercy and protection of Allah Ta'ala and be safeguarded from despicable traits and bad morals, as the benefits of zakat are often seen in their goodness when recipients are able to manifest praiseworthy qualities from the heart as a result of blessed sustenance.
