3.3.2 Shared sports facilities

UTM recognizes that its extensive sports infrastructure is a valuable public asset, and its policy extends the benefit of these resources far beyond the university's internal population of students and staff. This practice is managed and documented through dedicated university bodies and is communicated transparently across multiple public channels, as evidenced by the official pages detailing Sport Facilities on the university's development (dvcdev.utm.my) and student affairs (studentaffairs.utm.my) sites, alongside dedicated social media promotion (e.g., Facebook and TikTok accounts for the UTM Stadium and Swimming Pool).

The institutional facilities made accessible include, but are not limited to, the main Stadium and field complexes, the Olympic-sized Swimming Pool and various courts and fitness amenities.

By maintaining a dedicated system for managing and publicizing these facilities for both the university and the public, UTM ensures that the local populace, including surrounding residents and schools, has access to organized, safe, and well-maintained spaces for physical activity and recreation. This systematic sharing of infrastructure directly contributes to the overall fitness levels and social cohesion of the surrounding area, thereby confirming the university's role as a fundamental contributor to regional public health infrastructure. This policy is a core element of the university's community engagement strategy.
